When it comes to delivering freight transport across Victoria, quality road networks and services play a major role in getting goods to their destination safely and on schedule.
At Josie’s, our drivers are delivering freight to Melbourne and regional cities including Ballarat and Warrnambool every day. Because the road is our workplace, we know how important improvements including highway duplications, new truck stops, the removal of level crossings and major projects to relieve road congestion and improve freight links are to our industry and other road users.
As Victoria’s population increases, demand on our transport networks will too. State Government report Victoria in Future forecasts Melbourne will climb from its current population of 4.3 million, to about six million in 2031 and head towards eight million by 2051. Regional cities including Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo will also experience strong growth, with the City of Wyndham’s predicted to skyrocket by almost 200,000 by 2031.
Put simply, more people means more freight to move. Government officials believe the freight task will triple in less than four decades and put the increase in truck movements at twice today’s level.
The implementation of projects to improve Victoria’s roads and ports is helping to keep freight transport services moving forward across the state.
Projects include highway duplication on the Princes Highway between Colac and Winchelsea and the Western Highway between Stawell and Ballarat, ongoing construction of Koo Wee Rup Bypass and widening work on the Tullamarine Freeway. Contracts have also been signed to deliver East West Link’s first stage in Melbourne while the new Peninsula Link, between Carrum Downs and Mt Martha, is complete.
At Josie’s, we want our state’s road networks to be efficient and safe. We’re on them all the time, providing quality freight transport services across Victoria. So if you’re looking for a professional, reliable team to transport your goods, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
